The Montessori Journey

At Monteca International Montessori Kindergarten, we offer a unique experience for every child that comes in through our doors. Through integrating the Montessori pedagogy with our programming, children can start to experience their innate curiosity as early as 6 months of age and up to 36 months. Our professional staff members are experienced in teaching the Montessori methods and will carry the role of the directress/director to guide and observe the children’s progress.

Monteca International Montessori Kindergarten takes pride on providing a “prepared environment” for children to discover. This is a key integral part of the Montessori experience as it provides a safe and nurturing environment for the children to participate with their parents or caregivers. This environment is specifically designed through both our curriculum and also the Montessori directress/director in their learning areas. One of the most unique elements of MIP’s curriculum is that each child’s progress is individually followed, so they can absorb the learning experience at their own pace. The Montessori directress/director will then fine tune the environment with our authentic Montessori materials to ensure the children are reaching their maximum potential in learning.

The core program will mainly involve the 5 key areas of learning in Montessori:

And in addition, for children of younger ages, elements such as social, emotional and self-awareness will be integrated to the program as well. This is where infants (6-15 months) will have the opportunity to explore their surroundings, their own bodies to form their own unique identity.

In addition to our Montessori curriculum following each individual child’s progress, we feel that it is also important for our program to be localized geographically as well. This provides a sense of relevance for the children as they will be able to learn with materials that they see everyday in their lives outside of school as well. It is extremely important for children to have a sense of belonging, an identity for their own culture and familiarity through relevance to be able to integrate into and become resilient to the society they will be living in.

As our program is in a preschool format, it is mandatory that a parent or a caregiver be alongside their child at all times throughout the class. This provides an opportunity to allow children to be comfortable so they can safely explore their surroundings. MIMK asks that parents do try to take a step back and allow children to independently carry out work with their chosen materials; as this will build confidence within the child as well. Simultaneously, this format provides an chance for parents to take a glimpse at their children’s potentials as well; MIMK strongly encourages parents to also adapt a Montessori lifestyle in their home environment too.

Another important element in our program is the element of mixed-age groups. MIMK separates the infants (6-15 months) from the toddlers (15-24 months) to ensure levels of development are consistent. Due to the nature of following each individual child, there will be plenty of opportunities where children can experience the course of observing and helping others as well.

Our Journey program (split info Infants [6-15 months] and Toddlers [15-24 months]) allows parents to come into the classroom with their child(ren) to explore our Montessori environment. MIMK highly recommends attending the program consistently as this provides the children with a sense of stability and also opportunities to practice their skills learned at MIMK.
